Cardboard & Our Gaming Corner
Welcome to our post about Cardboard Corner!
Thank you for joining us as we jump into the gaming blogosphere. We share excellent company with great content makers, and we hope our posts will add to the discussion in meaningful and exciting ways.
Our goals are to promote gaming as a hobby and to enrich and grow the great gaming community we have here in Kansas City.
Toward that end, we plan to cover tabletop gaming from several angles, including:
-Post reports from local and regional events, as well as stories from those who travel to more distant conventions and trade shows
-Provide reviews and recommendations for great game experiences
-Tell stories from people whose lives have changed or been made better through gaming
-Share memorable moments from game masters and players
-Present custom, supplementary content and ideas for gamers and GMs alike
-Engage the community with fun and innovative articles – such as Cardboard, Cocktails, and Cooking entries, where we pair games with food and drink recipes
What is Cardboard Corner?
What began as an Instagram account has developed into a brand. After moving to Kansas City and buying our first home, Chase and I realized our love for hosting game nights and fostering a gaming community could not be contained in our four suburban walls.
After months of brainstorming and soul-searching, we realized gaming was not just a hobby, but how we wanted to spend our lives. We didn’t know quite what it would look like – a full restaurant with games? A cafe? An event center? We just knew we wanted a safe space to share games with others.
After a few months and a little bit of serendipity, we crossed paths with TableTop Game & Hobby and shop’s owners – Phil and Lynn Kilgore. We all met and discussed our plans. They wanted someone to open a cafe, to run events, and have an event space, and we wanted a place our customers could buy and learn about games. It was PERFECT.
Combining brands and integrating business models takes time. We are committed to developing a model that combines TableTop’s 25 successful years of heritage, culture, and customers with Cardboard Corner’s innovations in dining and events management.
This is just the beginning – but we’re excited about what the next year has to offer.
Thank you for your patience as we take our next steps. Keep an eye out for exciting updates in 2019/2020. We look forward to growing with you!
